ESP32-P4 v3.x – Major Performance and Multimedia Enhancements

Espressif Systems has officially released ESP32-P4 chip version v3.x, introducing significant improvements in processing speed, image processing, power management, and security. This important upgrade is designed to further optimize high-performance HMI, edge computing, and smart IoT applications.

Sunrich Co., Ltd. recommends that customers currently developing or manufacturing products based on ESP32-P4 upgrade their firmware and update hardware designs as soon as possible to take full advantage of the new features and performance enhancements.


Why Upgrade to ESP32-P4 v3.x?

ESP32-P4 v3.x not only delivers substantial performance improvements but also resolves several known issues from earlier versions, including:

MSPI access errors during startup (Load Access Fault)

Secure Boot verification failures

DMA conflicts in specific scenarios

ESP32-P4 features a high-performance dual-core RISC-V processor, with the maximum clock speed increased from 360 MHz to 400 MHz.

Upgraded Image Signal Processor (ISP)

Pixel Processing Accelerator (PPA)

The upgraded PPA now supports:

32 × 32 pixel block processing

YUV422 and YUV420 formats

Faster UI rendering and smoother video display

Professional Audio Support

ESP32-P4 v3.x adds a dedicated 160 MHz clock source for I2S, fully supporting high-quality audio applications.
